Los motivos: tanto vanguardia como género representan en extremos opuestos dos tipos de cine alejados del modelo tradicional y consensuado de lo que debe ser una película que compite en un festival. Al romper con esa idea del género destinado al trasnoche y la vanguardia al ámbito museístico, la idea es rescatar y dar un lugar de privilegio a este cine que, por lo demás, ha formado parte desde el principio de la historia del BAFICI. |
Another international competition is debuting this year: Avant-Garde & Genre, which comes in to replace Cinema of the Future. El BAFICI tiene este año el orgullo de dedicarle una de sus tres retrospectivas de los nombres fundamentales del cine brasileño, cuya obra, prolífica y turbulenta, creció dándole la espalda al Cinema Novo. Comenzó a filmar a finales de la década del 60, y si bien en aquel entonces estuvo cerca de figuras como Glauber Rocha, se distanció muy rápidamente de la oficialidad. “Cuando hicimos Belair fuimos expulsados del país, de la clase cinematográfica”, dice Bressane en una entrevista que será publicada en uno de los libros del Festival, refiriéndose a dicha ruptura pero también a su alianza con Rogério Sganzerla para la aventura Belair, productora con la que, cuenta la leyenda, hicieron seis películas en tres meses: un modo de producir con una libertad y una velocidad que hoy es objeto de estudio. The BAFICI is proud to dedicate one of this year’s three retrospectives to one of the most essential names in Brazilian cinema,who created a turbulent and prolific body of work turning his back on the Cinema Novo. Scott Fitzgerald, and it is appropriate to invite you to come visit this “Bafici Showcase,” which gathers memories from the Festival’s previous editions. Of course, the 15th anniversary celebration is the perfect excuse to go through the archives, recollect and experience again the possibility of leaving innocence behind thanks to that permanent revelation called cinema. We hope that each one of these objects speaks of a moment that was left in the past but has endured through time until today. |
