It is a trio coming from Spain, led by the singer and actress Leonor Watling (picture) who starred ‘The Oxford Murders’ – directed by Alex de la Iglesia-, among other films. Una hora y cuarto con tracks que repasaron lo mejor de “Wu Wei”, disco debut de la banda argentina; adelantos de lo que será su próximo trabajo, intitulado “Wet”; y pistas clásicas del género en el que son especialistas. La multitud que colmó la Terraza del Centro Cultural Recoleta, vibró con los compases armados por una enérgica base –un bajo poderoso acompañado por la batería de sonido seco, contundente-; filosas guitarras rítmicas; sintetizadores flotantes; y el carisma de Ivi Lee, un frontman único. Pero la intervención de Mad Professor desde su “nave” –equipada con incontables perillas, micrófono con eco y bandeja para samplear discos en vivo- fue la frutilla del postre. Un público heterogéneo que al término del set aplaudió con ganas. Minutos más tarde, una buena cantidad de gente corrió hasta el Microcine, en donde se proyecta “Roskilde”, documental que repasa la historia de uno de los festivales de rock más importantes de Europa. | Satan Dealers (picture) rock the Villa Villa hall, and played their harsh and melodious songs to the audience that filled the room: fans of the band that celebrated every song – specially “Se paraliza en mí”-; some of them were drinking energizing drinks; others dressed with their office clothing. It is a documentary about the history of one of Europe’s most important rock festivals. Roskilde is organized in Denmark, with a lin-up that gathers together some of the most relevant bands in the world - Bob Marley, Lou Reed, The Kinks, Pearl Jam, Sonic Youth, U2, Nirvana played there, among others-. Allí cualquiera podía armarle un video a “Cuello rojo”, de Babasónicos. La experiencia era en tiempo real y utilizando tecnologías de “face recognition” y “online video editing”. “Fotorragia” fue la muestra elegida para los apasionados por la fotografía y la música, aunque había mucho más que eso. El fotógrafo-rocker Martín Bonetto presentó sus retratos e instantáneas de la vida cotidiana, personal y de las estrellas de rock, con un sabroso tono “hiperrealista”. Y la “Música plástica”, donde se vieron cuadros de músicos locales como Lucas Martí, María Fernanda Aldana y Alfonso Barbieri, entre otros, también merecieron atención y en algunos caso, asombro.El espacio “Poesía y Música” unió todavía más eso que ya está unido. No es sencillo captar la atención masiva. Sin embargo, así sucedió con la oferta musical de Ciudad Emergente 2010: todos se fueron aplaudidos. En una selección caprichosa y acotada -un artista por día-, se puede armar un balance de lo mejor del Festival. Les Mentettes Orchestra abrieron el miércoles con un concierto magistral de pop \"de cámara\". Nairobi junto a Mad Professor, cautivaron a la audiencia con su dub “orgánico” y el despliegue escénico del líder, Ivi Lee. Satan Dealers, con rock duro y al frente, animaron uno de los pocos “pogos” que tuvo el Festival. FOK Electrochongo (foto), el curioso proyecto de Juan Pablo Malvasio, un frontman que no le teme al ridículo e invita, a los gritos, a sumarse a su fiesta electrónica. Los Reyes del Falsete, de actitud rock y sensibilidad pop, eran “los del disco que sonaba todo el tiempo”, entre recital y recital. Y cuando dieron el suyo, la rompieron. | Nowadays, it is not easy to attract the attention of the public when many people claim that “I have already listen to this, it has already been done”. However all the musicians present at Ciudad Emergente were well received and highly applauded by the public. If we just highlight the performance of one artist per day –a whimsical and limited selection, of course- we can mention: Les Mentettes Orchestra made a brilliant pop show at the opening; Nairobi featuring Mad Professor captivated the audience –probably the largest one- with the “organic” dub and scenic movement displayed by the leader, Ivi Lee; Satan Dealers, with hard rock, encouraged one of the very few pogo dances in the Festival; FOK Electrochongo (picture), Juan Pablo Malvasio’s project (a front man who is not afraid of making the fool of himself), invited the public to join the electronic party; Los Reyes del Falsete, with a rock attitude and a pop sensitivity, were “those the record of which was been played all the time” between show and show. When they had to play, they offered a great show. | Otros destacados: la elegancia de Anita Pallenberg; Michael Mike y su pop de gimnasio; María Ezquiaga, de Rosal, quien demostró por qué es una de las mejores cantantes femeninas del momento; y El Chávez, que le puso electro-cumbia al domingo y se fue aplaudido por muchos con remeras de rock. Mención especial a Divididos, quienes hace rato no son “emergentes”, pero también fueron parte de esto y regalaron una hora del mejor rock argentino. La frutilla del postre, el mejor regalo para el público. Por todo esto, no quedan dudas que el Ciudad Emergente es la mejor “vidriera” para ver a las mejores bandas nuevas. Así lo entendió el público que colmó el Centro Cultural Recoleta. | We can also mention the elegance of Anita Pallenberg; Michael Mike and his pop for the gym; María Ezquiaga, from Rosal, has proved why she has become one of the best feminine singers of the moment; and El Chávez, who performed “cumbia” music on Sunday, was very applauded by many people wearing rock T-shirts. We must highlight the presence of Divididos, a band that has left being an up and coming band long ago, but that has performed for one hour during the festival and offered a show of the best Argentine rock. This was the icing on the cake, for sure. Undoubtedly, Ciudad Emergente has become a shop window to the best new bands.
